Match on action is when a shot is taken and then it is completed in the second shot. An example of this in our preliminary piece is when the conversation continues in another shot, it flows smoothly to add an effect and bring the pice together.
An example:
Shot Reverse Shot:
Shot reverse shot is used to show reactions between two people or things. For example, the first person may say something and then there is a reverse shot showing the other persons reaction to this. An example of this in our preliminary piece is when Harry N asks Harry M what he was doing at the park, an the shot of Harry M shows him in a different mood, suggesting that he was up to something.
180º Rule:
The 180º rule is a guideline in filmmaking which is about the space between two characters or objects in a scene. An imaginary axis is used to keep the camera on one side of the axis for every single shot. The first person will always be filmed to the right of the second person.

Matte/ Matte Painting
A technique in which a portion of a scene is blocked during filming and later replaced with new images or footage.
It is very useful, even in block buster films as it is not possible to get to some locations, e.g the moon. Computer generated landscapes are used, such as most of the backgrounds in The Hunt For Gollum:
Rotoscope
Definition:
Rotoscoping is used to capture realistic human movement by drawing over film footage of live actors.
The Hunt For Gollum was made by Lord of The Rings enthusiasts who wanted part of the story to be told which was not in the famous trilogy. The budget for this films was £3000, but by using unpaid volunteers and making their own props, costumes and equipment they managed to make a film. This film was only shown for free online, no profit was made at all.
