The first thing revealed in my opening sequence will be the production logos, therefore they need to be professional. I also want to relate my production logos with the genre of thriller, so I have collected some images to create a mood board for inspiration.

Ideas:
Pestilence- this means 'contagious' which fits the theme of my film
Malady- this means 'disease' but is not a commonly used word which would make it more
unique.
Ocular- This is a reference to vision which is suited to the idea of cinema and film.
Faculty- this means sight, which is obviously suited to the film.
Frisson- this means 'thrill' and thriller is my genre.
I have decided to go with Frisson Studios for my main production company and Ocular Pictures for the secondary company.
Ocular Pictures construction:
1) I started with a drawing of an eye (ocular).
2) Then I scanned this into Sketchbook Express and inverted the colour, so it looks more professional.
3) Then I print screened the eye, each time the eyelash further down to present the idea of it closing.
5) Using iMovie, I put the print screens together to create a stop animation moving image.
Ocular Pictures Logo {two Ideas}:
Final logo:
Logo 2: Frisson Studios
I wanted this logo to reflect the theme of my film so first I developed a background image of bacteria, then I simply changed the colours to create an animated effect. After this I added the title with an animation pull transition.
I wanted this logo to reflect the theme of my film, so I found an FILMING-Day 1
(dead girl, voicemail scene)
I used simple grey eyeshadow in order to create a pale complexion.
I then used fake blood, which was very effective.
For the actual shot, I used a medium-close up. This was to portray the fact that she is in bed and also her bloodied face is visible. The ambient lighting also shows that it is morning and the shadow on the neck and upper face creates a creepy effect.
Editing this scene
For each singular shot I took, I changed the effect to 'vignette' or made the contrast higher in order to create an eerie effect.
examples:
I filmed an alarm clock, to express the time of day but also to portray bad luck, as it turns from 12 to 13 minutes past.
FILMING- Day 2
(Immune survivor scene)
This is the person who I chose for my survivor. I added dark make-up to his face in order to create a 'wild' and abandoned look, portraying the fact that he has struggled through this pandemic virus. He is wearing a plain t-shirt and shorts and I decided to not use a bandana to avoid a cliche
This is the street I chose to film down. I used a cul-de-sac because it is more safe with less traffic. I also had a friend to check at the end of the street, to watch for cars.
Voice Recordings
The middle section of my production is going to be a montage describing the devastation that this disease causes. I wanted to imply that this was happening all over the world, so I found some people who could do various accents and languages. I created a news report script for them to read and translate. This audio will be played over the montage.
FILMING- Day 3
(Home recording/ toddler scene)
For this scene I used my cousin, with permission from their parents.
I wanted this to look like a home recording, so I added in a recording simple at the top right hand corner of the frame, using the picture in picture option in advanced settings. I also included the date in the bottom left hand corner, which is sometimes an element of home video recorders.
For the video to become eerie, I used the Bleach Bypass effect which darkened the shadow, producing a sinister outcome.
I also used a green tinge to enhance this.
The end of this sequence shows the camera falling and the boy looking back, quite shocked. This is in slow motion because it made the fall more realistic and also made the scene much more intense.
(the way this scene ends deviates slightly from the original plan as it is quite hard to get a toddler to act, but this ending turned out to be very effective.
For the sound in the scene, I had to layer many effects to create the ambience I desired. I also used coughing effects to display the illness the person behind the camera has got. With added delay and reverb, with some echo, I achieved an eerie effect.

Filming No.4 (Across a period of weeks)
For my montage I filmed many different random things in order to create a chaotic and disjointed effect. I did this by taking my camera with me on car journeys and trips out. This meant I could film things that were applicable to my story line and a lot of it was just luck, e.g. I managed to take a shot of an ambulance.
Shots I have gathered:
This is a shot from a plane window, which could describe how the disease was dispersed all over the word.
I chose this shot to display the spreading of the disease over many countries.
I think that it was lucky I was in the right place at the right time for this shot. It presents the chaos that the disease has caused.
There will be non-diagetic news reports played over this montage in order to explain to the audience what has happened.
FILMING- Day 5
(Sick boy)
Originally I was going to use a girl for this scene but I decided to use a boy, as I had used a girl earlier on in the production. I shot this scene using some camera techniques in order to show my ability.
This first shot shows a medium close-up of a hand turning the radio up. The news reports from the montage will be playing through the radio. This transference will bring the film together well.
Then there is a close-up of a woman's eye, she looks up dramatically. This tells the audience that she is worried about what the news report has said.
The next shot tracks the woman's feet to a door.
I then use match on action here as she opens the door, this helps the continuity of the piece.
Then there is another close-up of medicines etc to give the idea of an ill person
Then an over the shoulder shot is used to show a boy throwing up.
Opening Credits:
I chose this font for the opening credits because I believe it looks sinister. The eroded typewriter effect worked well in the shots of my film. I changed the size of some words and underlined their job roles in order to create a kind of shape for the titles and make them more eye-catching.
Title:
I wanted the title to be unique in the way it was placed and presented within the film. To do this, I created a computer style sequence, created through a screen recording of me typing. This took 25 takes (spelling errors etc) but was worth it in the end. The outcome was very effective.
I decided whilst editing my film to add the sound on last as inputting music via iMovie is quite tedious and difficult. I decided to use Garageband as it has more opportunities to add effects and there is plenty of room to layer different sounds. These are some effects and samples (from Freesound.org) that I have used.
These are various effects I have used to make my sounds relevant to the situation e.g I made the radio parts distorted to create verisimilitude.
These are a few of the layers I have used.
This is how I edited certain effects.
